50 Pt Who's the Boss?!? II

Last time it was a blast, this time should prove to be better in all aspects. New crazy casters, Special scenarios. If you have any doubts, you should read up on the comments from the last Who's the Boss event.

http://privateerpressforums.com/showthr ... light=boss

Location – Misty Mountain Games

* 4672 Cottage Grove Rd
* Madison, WI 53716
* 608-441-0312

Sign In - 10:00
Start time 11:00

Cost - $10 this includes food for the day. Brats, burgers, Chips etc.

The day will consist of 5 rounds of warmachine/Hordes. This is a casual event.

All Warcasters and Warlocks current to the game will be represented by their model with their current mk2 card and be provided by Majortusk.

Rules -

List creation - You will create a 50 point list (10 pt min battlegroup, 40 point army) of the Faction/Contract (4 Star, Magnus Agenda, Searforge, Blindwater etc....) of your choosing. Do not include the Warcaster/Warlock or its bonus points. Theme Lists are not allowed.

Your BOSS!! - Every game, your Boss will be chosen by spinning the Wheel of Casters (There are 100+ Casters in the game), That is the caster you will play with for that game (you cannot obtain a caster from your own faction, IE if you are Cygnar, you spin a Cygnar caster, you will have to respin until you do not get a Cygnar caster.)

For all purposes that caster becomes a member of your faction. Depending on your faction of your army, your casters spells be adjusted to reflect the new faction, mentions of Warjacks become warbeasts, vice versa. Any other specific named abilities will be lost in the translation, unless those models exist in your army. (Such As ESorscha's Elite Cadre and Desperate Pace.)

If you are playing a Warmachine army, and you get a warlock, that warlock becomes a warcaster in all meanings. Fury Stat will become Focus, Overboost armor is now possible. The reverse holds true as well, If you are playing a Hordes Army, and you get a warcaster, that warcaster becomes a Warlock in all meanings. Focus becomes Fury, and will be able to transfer damage.

Models such as Epic Kaya and Old Witch, the accompanying models (Laris and Scrapjack) become a Warjack or Warbeast, determined by the Faction they play for. Damage grids remain the same, as with the abilities.

Games - Pairings will be entirely random, unless a challenge is called. There will be no intercity challenges, unless approved by the TO. Challenges between players can be done between rounds. The person being challenged gets to choose the board (Scenario: See rules below) they will play at. Challenges will be accepted only before the Wheel is spun.

Time Limit - Each round will have a time limit to keep things on time. Normal timers will be used unless both parties agree to not use a timer.

Scenarios - Big change from last Whos the Boss event is the inclusion of special scenarios. Every table is will have a special constructed scenario on it. They are intended to add to the gameplay and are not game ending. Currently they are being heavily playtested, and we will post some examples before the event in the next month or so.

Prize support -

* Awards given for various achievements during the Event. First Caster Kill, First boosted Critical miss, etc.
* Free Food

Yes it is. Last time we had our pairings/challenges before we knew who our caster was. Doesn't matter for random pairings, but it makes challenges different.

It's not my fault you didn't run the event by the rules last time. ;)

Who’s the Boss?
Quick Reference Sheet

1. The Wheel

Free Spin’s- Each player starts the game with a free spin token. The player may earn more free spins by landing on the correct area of the wheel. These free spins can be used to respin the wheel if the player chooses, saved until the end of the day for bonus points, or eaten.

Bonus solos and units- Certain areas of the wheel are marked with a bonus solo or unit. Both players in that game will receive a solo or unit of the corresponding type. So, for example, if “Bonus Unit-Steelheads” is rolled, both players will receive 6 steelhead halberdiers for that game. The wheel will then be spun again. (Note: These units will count toward KP’s)

Prizes- Some area’s of the wheel contain glamorous prizes. After this, the wheel will be spun again.

Double-cross- The double-cross area of the wheel gives a player the traitor token. This token can be used before any game to switch casters with the current opponent. The double-cross token can also be saved until the end of the day, but please don’t eat it.

Bankrupt- You may not use a free spin if you land on this area. The “caster” for this area is a collection of lesser warlocks and journeyman warcasters. If you are playing a hordes faction, the journeyman casters FURY stat will be equal to his FOCUS stat instead. Also any beast on the journeyman caster will go wild if he dies. If you are playing a warmachine faction, each lesser warlock has a FOCUS stat equal to their FURY. A Warjack on a lesser warlock who is killed will become inert. Battlegroups are assigned prior to the game. In order to qualify for a “caster kill” to end the game, all 5 must be killed. In order to qualify for a “fastest caster kill” prize, not only must all 5 be destroyed, but they must all be destroyed by the same model type. For example to win “Fastest caster kill with a warjack/warbeast.” All 5 must be killed by either warjacks or warbeasts, or a combination of the two.

Landing on a caster that has already been taken – If you land on a caster that has already been taken, you get the next caster counterclockwise.

Landing on a caster you have already used – If you land on a caster you already have played today, you will immediately respin. This includes the Bankrupt area.

Landing on a caster of your faction – Casters of your faction are not eligible, you will immediately respin.

The wheel must revolve at least one full revolution, or you will respin.

2. The Games

Pairings - Pairings are not determined by strength of schedule but instead are random each round. This is a casual event and we are here to play some fun games with random casters.

The Table – A player may not play on the same table more than once. In addition a player may not play the same scenario twice without the Event Organizers permission.

Challenges – Before pairings each round you may challenge any other player in the event, if that player agrees then the grudge match is on. The challenged player then may choose the table to play on and thus also the scenario. You cannot force someone to play on a table they have already played, or a scenario they have already played.

Scenario - Today’s games will be the killbox scenario. This means the deployment zones are 8” for the first player and 10” for the second player. After the end of the 2nd players 2nd turn, if any of your casters is completely within 12” of any board edge, that caster is destroyed. In addition, if you have lost your warcaster/warlock the game ends with a loss.
There are also special scenario’s on each board, please read these carefully and ask if there are any questions.

Terrain – If you have questions on what a piece of terrain should represent rules wise, please ask. Also talking over terrain with your opponent before the game is a good idea.

Kill points – In addition to tracking whether you have won or lost, you will track how many kill points you have earned. Kill points are the total army points of your opponents that you have destroyed. To earn kill points for a unit, you must completely eliminate that unit. A warcaster or warlock will be worth 5 points and you will get credit for any inert warjacks or wild warbeasts. In the special case of a bankrupt result each lesser caster is worth 1 point.

3. So who is the boss?

To determine who the boss is, we are going to add up everyone’s event points. The player with the most points will win the “boss” trophy and title. Event points are as follows
1. Total Kill Points - All of your games kill points will be added together.
2. Wins- Each win will be worth 5 pts.
3. Remaining Free spin tokens- each unused token will be worth 5 pts.
4. Remaining Double-cross token- The unused double-cross token is worth 10 pts.
5. The spoon- The holder of the spoon will receive 10 pts.
6. The Spam- The winner of the spam will receive 10 pts.

So remember, if you destroy the opponent fast and get the fastest caster kill trophy’s you will not get as many kill points, and thus not as many event points as massacring an army and maybe even losing.

Other reward
Skornergy- Whoever spins the most skorne casters during the day wins, Note this means skorne cannot win skornergy, but they already have it.
Killing Blow against a caster with a (caster/unit/solo/beast or jack) - Each round the first NEW type of fastest caster kill will receive that corresponding trophy. For example, if in the first round John kills the enemy caster using his caster, he will receive the “fastest caster kill with a caster.” However, if John in round 2 again kills the enemy caster with his own, there is no trophy. If Henry now kills a caster with a solo, now Henry receives the fast kill trophy for that round.
Over the Top- At the end of the day every person is going to vote for one of their opponents. You will cast your vote for who had the most “broken” caster and army combination. Basically who had the luckiest spin? Whoever gets the most lucky spins, and thus the most votes, will win Over the Top.

Errata

For this event we are using the following altercations to the rules of warmachine/hordes.

1. Warlocks in a warmachine army- If a warmachine army spins a warlock, that warlock will become a warcaster. They will gain a Focus stat equal to their Fury stat. Any time the word fury appears on their card, change it to Focus except in the following case. If they have any NON OFFENSIVE effect that removes fury on the casters card, it instead allocates an equal amount of focus. For example soothing song becomes a 1 focus spell that allocates 1 focus to each warjack in the battlegroup.
2. Warcasters in a Hordes army- If a hordes army spins a warcaster, that warcaster will become a warlock. They will gain a Fury stat equal to their Focus stat. Any time the word focus appears on their card, change it to Fury except in the following case. If they have any spells or abilities that allocate focus it instead removes fury.
3. Epic Butcher in a Hordes army – Instead of rolling randomly each turn for your focus stat you will instead roll for your fury stat, and then leach.
